Christmas Spirit?

Where is it? Do you have it? How bout you- do you? A lot of the bloggers I read have written posts lately about how they are just not in the Christmas spirit this year. I feel the same way. I've been listening to Christmas music, but it just feels wrong. I've worn Christmas socks. I've shopped (some) for Christmas presents. I even wrapped a present today and mailed it out to my Secret Santa (If any Nesties are reading this- yes I sent it out a day late, but it is out!)

But... still no spirit. When the NewlyHusband gets home tonight, we are going to watch Four Christmases with Vince Vaughn and Reese Witherspoon. Maybe that will help. We can't put up our tree until the 14th (when I will be on Christmas break). I'm sure that will help. And it has gotten a little cooler here, although I think it's 78 degrees (F) right now. It may just be that I am so concentrated on getting done with the semester that I have no room left for the holidays. Holiday shopping is the best thing to get me in the mood and although I've done a bit, I just really don't have the time. And I need a shopping buddy. Going by yourself just isn't as fun.

Are any of you feeling the Christmas spirit yet? What gets you in the mood for the holidays?

  1. I think you are right about the Christmas spirit being a little late this year. It has been so warm but just yesterday we got our first dusting of snow and colder weather. That will do it for me. Our tree goes up mid month too, we used a farmed one so have to wait, that will bring on the Christmas Cheer!

  2. I finally listened to Christmas music last night, so that's a start. Still no motivation towards decorating or cards, though.

  3. I feel the same way! I think it's because we've been so busy with renovations and painting and all that house crap, that we really haven't had the TIME to be all Christmas-y. I'm sure it'll change once we move and we have a new place to decorate. we're also not the type to put up the tree right after Thanksgiving... we usually do it mid month.

  4. I went out and got new wreaths for the front door yesterday. That seemed to help, but it was also a reminder that I have so much to do in the next few weeks!!!

  5. I haven't totally felt it. It just isn't the same since I've gotten older.

I haven't broken down and listened to Christmas music yet. Soon enough I'm sure. I was kind of in the spirit for Black Friday but after that, I lost it. I need to get Christmas shopping on Saturday! It'll be here before we know it!

  6. I was pretty Grinchy and grumpy but last night we started listening to Christmas music and the helped - a little bit. Then it snowed this morning and I'm a teeny, tiny bit in the Spirit.
